Smriti Singh, the widow of late Captain Anshuman Singh, recalled their last conversation on July 18, just before his passing on July 19. Captain Singh was posthumously awarded the Kirti Chakra for his bravery and sacrifice. President Droupadi Murmu conferred the award, which Smriti received. Reflecting on their relationship, Smriti mentioned it was "love at first sight."
